A thin layer of platinum on, for instance, copper can reduce the electrical contact resistance. Platinised parts are used as current feeders to pass current from the anode rail to the bus bar or as a sensor in analytical devices and other electronic equipment.
Platinum can also serve as an inner-layer or as a protective layer.
Metallic platinum can be applied on Titanium, Titanium alloys and Copper by a galvanic process.
